# Moving and Linking Folders

# 📂 **Moving and Linking to Folders**

## 1️⃣ Why Move or Link?  
In Brainframe, a document can **exist in multiple folders simultaneously**.  
* Update it once, and changes appear everywhere it’s linked.  
* Simplify management of policies, risks, or assets that belong to more than one folder.  

📌* This eliminates duplication and ensures consistency across your workspace.*

## 2️⃣ Move and Link Documents  
Moving and linking is done from the **“Link or move item to other folder”** option in the document action menu.

## 3️⃣ Options in the Move/Link Screen

1. **Move to folder** – Relocates the document to a new folder.  
2. **Link to folder** – Creates a reference in another folder, while keeping the original.  
3. **Copy to workspace** – Copies the document to a different workspace. Optionally mark it as a **Master document** so updates propagate across linked workspaces.

4. **Target folder name** – Type the destination folder in the current or target workspace.  


| 📌 Linking is recommended over copying to maintain a single source of truth.

## 4️⃣ Drag & Drop to Move  
You can also **drag and drop** documents from the folder content view directly into another folder.

## 5️⃣ Moving and Linking Folders  
Just like documents, entire **folders** can also be moved or linked.  
* A folder can exist in **multiple places** within your hierarchy.  
* Linked folders automatically include all linked documents inside.
